As you select a counselor,
please realize the obvious: you are going to hire a consultant to assist
you in your recovery. Your values, issues and personality will be under
review by the therapist. Therefore, be sure to ask the right questions
from the beginning. Therapists, or their support staff, should not resent a
brief interview prior to scheduling an appointment.

What
about confidentiality?
While it is our desire that
all communications be considered confidential, none are not legally
privileged. In addition, state laws vary and may require Rob Jackson to
report certain activities which may be criminal in nature, particularly
where they involve children. Rob Jackson will comply with these laws.
As with all mental health
professionals, we are required by law to break confidence when:
-
The client threatens
suicide.
-
The client threatens harm
to another person(s), including murder, assault, or other physical
harm.
-
The client reports
suspected abuse, including, but not limited to physical beatings and
sexual abuse of individuals under 18 years of age.
-
The client reports abuse
of the elderly or mentally or physically handicapped..
-
The client reports sexual
exploitation or other unethical practices by a therapist.
-
The counselor and/or the
client's chart is subpoenaed by a duly recognized court of law.
Communications
between the counselor and client will otherwise be deemed confidential as
stated under the laws of the state of Colorado. Please be
aware, however, that the State of Colorado does not recognized
"privileged communication" between client and therapist.
