ChristianCounsel Clinics
where enjoying God is the path to recovery
Faith Statement
I continue to work relationally and effectively with clients from varied backgrounds, including different denominations within Protestantism and Catholicism. What my clients and I share in common is the centrality of Jesus Christ, a reliance on Scripture, and an insistence on a balanced, integrated approach to recovery.

It may be helpful to remember that my clients and I don't have to agree on the finer points of theology for we're not planting a church together. Rather, the focus remains on the individual client or couple, and how can they embrace God the Father, Son, and Spirit authentically while seeking to overcome their issues.

Therefore, my approach explores the nature of God and man as expressed in the Scriptures, and how salvation in Jesus Christ is a supernatural transformation that empowers a person to enjoy God and his kindness amid the pain of a fallen world.

I hope to build on the foundation of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ with materials and content that reflect the supremacy of Jesus Christ. And frequently clients express their appreciation for this balance and sensitivity. With these clarifications, I offer to perspectives on my faith. The first is my affirmation of the Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. AMEN.

I also ascribe to the statement of faith established by the National Association of Evangelicals:

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory.
  4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
  5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Last, but not least, my family and I worship with the Christ-followers who attend Academy Christian Church in Colorado Springs.
